Butt Lifter Shapewear: With Padding or Without?
Brazilian shapewear is famous for lifting and shaping the butt. There are two ways a shaper does this: with shaping seams and compression alone, or with a built-in pad that adds volume. Here's the difference and how to choose.
Butt lifters without padding
These use anatomical seams and firm fabric around the hips and tummy. By holding the tummy and thighs in, they push the butt up and give it a rounder shape, without adding size.
- Look: natural. It's still your shape, just lifted and smoother.
- Best for: everyday wear, work and anyone who wants a subtle result.
- Examples: the Lupo Long Bermuda Butt Shaper, the Liz Semi Body Bermuda and the Liz Aesthetic Shorts.
Butt lifters with padding
These have a soft foam insert in the back that adds volume, together with compression on the tummy and waist for an hourglass silhouette.
- Look: visibly fuller and rounder.
- Best for: occasions and fitted dresses where you want more curve.
- Example: the Liz Bum Bum Control Bermuda, with a sculpted foam insert.
How to choose
| You want… | Choose |
| A natural lift every day | Without padding |
| A fuller butt for an occasion | With padding |
| Tummy control and lift together | Either; both are high-waist |
| Thigh smoothing too | A bermuda length |
Fit tips
- The pad or shaping seams should sit centred on the butt. If they sit too low, try a smaller size; too high, try a larger one.
- Don't size down for "more lift". A tight shaper flattens instead of lifting.
- Check the size guide. Note that the Liz Bum Bum Control comes in S, M and L.
